Wannabe entrepreneurs to test-run ventures at event

Budding entrepreneurs are set to flock to a global network event where they can find out if their business ideas are viable.

The event, being held in Liverpool, will allow tomorrow’s Alan Sugar’s to test out their ideas and see them born as a business.

The Startup Weekend Liverpool is the inaugural event of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress. Held over 52 hours, the event promises to be a business hothouse where ideas and inspiration can flow.

Melanie Bryan of event co-sponsor WhyNotChange said: “This is a great opportunity for people from every walk of life to roll their sleeves up, jump in, unleash their ideas and work together to see how what potential they have to positively change their lives, their communities and city.

“These are intense but fun sessions during which people get to turn the seed of an idea into a real live business – hopefully with the potential to become a mighty oak.

“Everybody who attends will leave with something whether it be a business partner, a potential investor, new skills, greater confidence, fantastic contacts, or a brand new business.”

The event will see Liverpool join a global network of budding start-ups, from Canada to Kazakhstan.

Startup Weekend Liverpool will take place in the Atrium of the Capital building, Old Hall Street from 6pm on Friday, March 9 to 10pm on Sunday, March 11.
