International news: UK company signs software deal with Malaysia

A Halifax-based company is set to provide all 10,000 Malaysian state schools with educational software, it has been announced.

Frog said its programs will be made available to a total of six million students through a deal with Malaysian telecommunications company YTL Communications.

The UK software company, which was founded 14 years ago and currently employs a total of 75 people, said it was “delighted” with the partnership. The company is based in Halifax’s Dean Clough business community which is housed in a former carpet mill.

Managing director Gareth Davies said Frog’s strong reputation and history of success were the key factors that convinced the Malaysian Ministry of Education to award the company the software contract.

Mr Davies added that the deal is a massive opportunity for Frog to extend the brand’s reach around the world.
