Girona properties gain more interest from UK buyers

Interest in properties in certain provinces of Girona, Spain, has increased among those looking to buy homes overseas.

Research found that, in 2011, there was a rise in demand from English, French, Scandinavian and Russian buyers looking for real estate in Girona, when compared to demand the previous year.

The research was carried out by the Spanish Valuation Society and was highlighted by PGA Catalunya Resort.

Because of this rise in interest in Girona’s property market, prices have stayed more constant there than in other areas of Spain.

Girona’s proximity to the sea, its good climate and ita varied leisure facilities could have boosted interest in the area, PGA Catalunya Resort said.

Those investors who seek Spanish real estate which can be used for holiday rentals may also find encouragement in comments made by Mark Stucklin, head of Spanish Property Insight.

He said it is a “buyer’s market” in Spain, especially in “consolidated areas that are well-established with a good range of amenities and services”.
