Global search for new Manchester City chief executive

Manchester City might be willing to look beyond the UK in their search to appoint a new chief executive, it has emerged.

Reports have indicated that the football club is eyeing up Ferran Soriano as a potential replacement for Garry Cook.

Soriano previously spent half a decade in the role of vice-president at Barcelona FC.

The Manchester club is no stranger to big foreign names, and its array of stars from around the world are already likely to require translation services.

John MacBeath has filled the position of acting chief executive since the departure of Cook.

Head-hunting firm Odgers is said to be collaborating with executives close to Khaldoon Al Mubarak,
Manchester City chairman, to find the right candidate for the permanent position.

The role of chief executive at the club may have become more attractive following its rise to the top of the Premier League this season.
